"MyTB is about 16.3H and 4 years old and maybe 1200lbs. He is just coming off of a year long layup for an injury, which followed a 6 month lay up from another injury. I am just doing basic work right now, walking and some trotting. I hope to show him in HUS rather competitively and maybe work up to lower level dressage.When he was on the track in Oct 06 he fractured a sesamoid in his fetlock, surgery was done and he was laid up for 5 months. March of 07 the old injury flared up. The surgeon said xrays looked the same but due to the location of the fracture it will not heal properly and every time there is a lot of force put on that leg (his left fore) it would basically crack the bone again like an egg shell. He has good calcification there, and the only time I can notice a lameness is when he is turning tight circles to the left. May of 07 he got his legs hung in a cable fence, ripping his right hind down to the bone on the front side from hock down 2/3 of his cannon bone. He had a large piece of his cannon bone sequestrum but that doesn't have a lot of remodeling. The wound is almost healed, but there is thickening, scar tissue, and a little arthirits forming in his hock joint. He also severed tendons and doesn't have good control of his hoof/pastern. He knuckles over occassionally when he is trotting or cantering, and his foot basically flops around a bit. His left hind leg had a cut directly over the hock joint and he has some scar tissue there as well. He is moving very stiff in his hocks, more so on the left. I would like him to be able to show, but it is more important to have him comfortable."
